2020 Texas Child Passenger Safety Conference

A note to 2020 Conference Attendees (Updated July 27):

The 2020 Texas Child Passenger Safety Conference is rescheduled for September 9–11. Please join us for a live but virtual conference!

Due to COVID-19 we find it necessary to postpone the Texas Child Passenger Safety Conference and are working with the venue to set a new date. Please check back soon for new conference dates. If you are not able to attend on the new date and have already registered, your registration fee will be refunded. We apologize for any inconvenience.

We are continuing to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic and will respond as necessary regarding the conference. At this time the Texas Child Passenger Safety Conference is still scheduled for July 20-22.

Keynote Speaker
Laura Dunn, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration

Laura serves as the subject matter expert in Child Passenger Safety in NHTSA’s Office of Occupant Protection. Her role is to develop CPS programming at the national level in collaboration with government and non-profit agencies that share an interest in injury prevention, as well as manage agreements for the National CPS Board and the Child Passenger Safety Certification and Training Program. She serves on the National CPS Board as the NHTSA representative. Prior to working at NHTSA, Dunn worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation as a regional Occupant Protection Coordinator, and in 2013 earned a coveted fellowship with the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health. She served as a Public Health Fellow with the NHTSA Offices of Occupant Protection and Impaired Driving from 2013 to 2015.Dunn holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Science: Public Health from Truman State University, and a Master of Public Health in Health Education and Behavioral Science degree from St. Louis University College of Public Health and Social Justice. Dunn’s interest in child passenger safety began early, as she earned her CPST certification during an undergraduate summer internship at the Children’s Hospital of Illinois. While in graduate school, she worked at the St. Louis Children’s Hospital permanent CR inspection station, and she volunteered at the Montgomery County Car Seat Program after moving to Washington, D.C. She became a CPST-I during her tenure in Illinois and taught certification course throughout the state.
